The member-exclusive 2016 Vicsport SportsTalk Forum, AGM and Christmas Drinks was an afternoon for celebration and reflection.
Independent journalist and author, Gideon Haigh (see bio) kicked off proceedings with his anecdotal presentation of the importance of local sporting clubs, in particular his beloved South Yarra Cricket Club where he has played and been a committeeman for 20 years.
Haigh's passion for community sport cannot be questioned, highlighting all the wonderful things a local club can bring to a community and the individuals within it. He spoke of the diversity of his club, with of various ages, cultures, ethinicities and skill levels connecting because of the common bond of cricket. Sport has the ability to bring people together who otherwise would never have met.

The Annual General Meeting featured the release of Vicsport's 2017 - 2020 Strategic Plan. This plan is the next iteration to the 2014-2016 Strategic Plan which revitalised Vicsport, enabling it to redefine its purposes, services and membership. The AGM also featured highlights from the 2015 - 2016 year, outlining Vicsport's achievements during this period.

Vicsport Chairman Margot Foster AM used this opportunity to welcome Steven Potts as the new Vicsport CEO (read the announcement) and thanked Mark McAllion for his eight years of service. Mark was very thankful to all of Vicsport's members, preferred suppliers, Board Members and staff over his time at the helm.
The AGM brought further change, as we welcomed Ron Gauci (see profile) and the re-elected Richard Amon onto the Vicsport Board.

The day ended with attendees joining us for Christmas Drinks to celebrate another great year in Victorian Sport.
