VicHealth is challenging the community sport sector to lead sport in a new direction
VicHealth is looking for clever ideas to get more Victorians physically active. The Innovation Challenge: Physical Activity offers the opportunity to kick-start innovative ideas that take advantage of changing trends in sport participation.
Traditional club sport isn’t the answer for everybody. Some people are put off by inflexible schedules, cliquey cultures, high costs and limited opportunities for beginners and veterans.
People are gravitating towards individual and fitness-based sports. Lifestyle, adventure and alternative sports are on the increase. More and more people are looking for flexible, social and less structured ways to get active.
Organisations within the community sport and active recreation sector are encouraged to pitch their bright idea via a 90 second video. The most promising entries will share in a pool of $900,000 seed funding to pilot their big idea and make a real impact.
Funding will be available across two separate funding rounds in 2015/16. Round 1 of the Challenge is open for submissions until Thursday 16 July 2015.
