Last Year's Heroes - Victorian Fury
As we continue our trip down memory lane highlighting the success of the 2016 winners, this week we take a look at Victorian Fury, winning Victorian Team of the Year award.
Last year was a year to remember for Victorian Fury. Winning it’s fourth consecutive premiership within the Australian Netball League (ANL) competition, Victorian Fury has been dominating the state netball circuit since 2008.
Kirsty Keppich-Birrell, former coach of Victorian Fury now coach at the Collingwood Magpies was thrilled to see the legacy of the team spirt continue to soar in 2016.
“Yes, the wins came, but what’s been really amazing has been that it has been a different group of athletes over the course of the 32 wins in four seasons.”
Keppich-Birrell makes note of the fact that whilst the team is made up of individuals, as a whole they have created a special bond.
“All the girls have learnt something from each other … and for a coach that’s a wonderful and unique thing to have.”
