Vicsport Open House: Co-Working Space #3

The third edition of the Vicsport 'Open House' provided another great opportunity for anyone working in the sport and active recreation industry to spend the day working alongside colleagues, collaborating, sharing ideas and meeting new people in a relaxed environment.

Thanks to Gymnastics Victoria's Alison Lyons' demonstration of 'Move My Way', attendees of last weeks event left feeling energised with an arsenal of new, easy exercises they could do at home.  The program provides a great way to get your body moving, whilst training muscles in the body to perform some extremely important movements and hence impacting on many aspects of general life and other sports and activities.

Other highlights from the day included Virginia Affleck's presentation on North Melbourne Football Club's 'The Huddle' program.  Affleck provided attendees with a detailed look at the amazing work that the program has delivered and the engagement and results they have been able to achieve within community.  If you would like to learn more, please visit The Huddle's website.

The Open House 'Project Sharing' sessions held on the day also served as a great opportunity for VicHealth funded State Sporting Associations (SSAs) and Regional Sports Assemblies (RSAs) to check in with with one another on their Physical Activity, Healthy Choices, and Water project progress.

The Open House sessions are just one innovative mechanism Vicsport is using to engage the Victorian sport industry.  Feedback from attendees has been extremely positive and Vicsport extends a big thank you to everyone who has embraced the new initiative.  Sessions in the new financial year will continue to grow and centre around you as a sport administrator.

If you have any suggestions on what you would like to see at future Open House events please contact us.

The Open Houses are open to whole sports industry, and we encourage you to make the time to attend in the future, and get a first-hand look at why attendees are raving about the concept.

"I found the day very helpful in connecting with people in the sports industry and providing beneficial contacts to pursue work with. It was a great opportunity to get out of the office and be inspired through the Huddle and gymnastics presentation."
"Having space for networking as well as individual work was great. The setting was lovely and the elongated shape of the venue meant that the quiet work area was not clashing with the conversations that were taking place."
